Countdown to War

Countdown to War is a 1989 television movie by PBS describing events that occurred between March 15, 1939, when the German army commanded by Adolf Hitler invaded the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia ( Czechoslovakia area) Until the 3 of September of 1939, date in which France and England jointly declare the war to Germany , thus beginning the Second World War . The footage of the film is divided into 4 different scenarios: Mussolini’s office, Hitler’s chancery, Stalin’s Kremlin and Chamberlain’s cabinet. The script is constructed from private letters, personal journals and official records of the meetings between the different leaders. 1 The film stars Ian McKellen , Michael Aldridge , Alex Norton and Barrie Rutter

Synopsis

The most powerful leaders in Europe are desperately plotting their strategies, trying to determine the next steps to be taken by both their allies and their enemies. Private meetings, discussions, anguish and personal battles will change the course of history. The Second World War is about to begin.

Countdown to War has not been released on DVD or Blu-ray in Spain. In the United States, it was released on DVD on January 22, 2008. 2
