Eugen Burg

Eugen Burg ( 6 as January as 1871 - 17 as April as 1944 1 ) was a German actor and film director.

Biography

His real name was Eugen Hirschburg, born in Berlin , Germany , in a family of Jewish origin, although he later converted to Protestantism . 2 Eugen Burg was already 43 years old and was a renowned stage actor when he debuted in 1914 before the cameras, acting for the Berlin company Projektions-AG Union. He worked in more than eighty movies, most of them silent , also dealing with management duties from 1916 to 1920. His first sound film was Der Greifer (1930), where he worked his student and good friend Hans Albers .

With the coming to power of the Nazis in 1933 because of his Jewishness, Burg lost his collaboration with Universum Film AG , being excluded from the industry for the Reichsfachschaft Film, ending on suddenly his film career. Burg was deported on January 28, 1943 to the Theresienstadt concentration camp , where he died at 73 years old in unexplained circumstances.
