Franz Schädle

Franz Schädle ( Westerheim , Baden-Wurtemberg , 19 of November of 1906 - Berlin , 1 of maypole of 1945 ) was the commander of the personal guard of Adolf Hitler ( SS-Begleitkommando des Führers ) with the rank of SS-Obersturmbannführer from 5 January of 1945 until his death a few months later.

Biography

After school he worked as a construction technician. He joined Social Security in 1930 and since March 1932 was a founding member of Hitler’s personal guard, and was assistant to Heinrich Himmler since 1934 . He took care of Hitler’s safety and accompanied him on all his journeys. 1 The 28 of April of 1945 was wounded in one leg by the shrapnel. According to the story of Otto Günsche , despite the injury, he could have helped bring Hitler’s body down the stairs of Berlin bunker, before witnessing the burning of the bodies. But he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head instead of joining the group that tried to flee the bunker to escape the advance of the Red Army . 1

Schädle’s suicide is briefly portrayed in the film The Sinking of 2004 as played by Igor Bubenchikov .
