Fritz Ernst Fischer ( Berlin , 5 of October of 1912 - Ingelheim am Rhein , 2003 ) was a physician German who participated in the Nazi human experimentation on prisoners ofRavensbrück concentration camp .
Biography
Fischer studied medicine , first in Bonn , then in Berlin and Leipzig . Finally, he graduated in Hamburg in 1938 . Years earlier, in 1934 , he had joined the SS (reaching Sturmbannführer’s degree ) and was a member of the Nazi Party since June 1937 .
The 1 of November of 1939 was assigned to the SS Sanatorium Department Hohenlychen as medical and second lieutenant. In 1940 , he became doctor of the 1st SS Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler . After being injured, he returned to Hohenlychen and worked in the Ravensbrück concentration camp hospital as a surgical assistant to Karl Gebhardt . There, he participated in surgical experiments performed on concentration camp prisoners, opening wounds in the legs and adding dangerous bacteria infection by bacteria , in four series of five prisoners. Then he continued with Polish women. 1
At the end of World War II , he was tried at the doctors’ trial in Nuremberg , where he was sentenced to life imprisonment . In 1951 , his sentence was reduced to 15 years and he was released in March of 1954 . Subsequently, Fischer regained his license to practice medicine and began a new career at the chemical company Boehringer , in Ingelheim am Rhein , where he remained until his death in 2003 .
