Ilse Ruth Braun ( Munich , Germany , 1909 1 - ibidem , 1979 ) was the elder sister of Eva , wife of the German dictator Adolf Hitler , and Margarete (Gretl) Braun .
Biography
Ilse Ruth Braun was born in Munich as the first-born of a middle-class marriage consisting of the master Friedrich Braun and the dressmaker Franziska Kronberger, who settled in Upper Bavaria. 2
Unlike his sisters, Ilse did not belong to the inner circle of Hitler, and had very little participation in some social events carried out in Berghof . Ilse Braun served as an assistant to a Jewish physician named Martin Levy Marx with whom he had a more personal than professional relationship. In 1935, this physician was the one who assisted Eva Braun when she attempted suicide with Phanodorm, 3 a sleeping pill. In 1936, she married a lawyer named Hofstätter and divorced in 1941. 4
Ilse was only able to meet Hitler in person at a New Year party between 1938 and 1939 in Berghof. 5 Ilse Braun became Hitler’s sister-in-law on April 30, 1945, when her sister Eva committed suicide with Hitler in the führerbunker; She was the godmother of Gretl Braun ‘s daughter , Eva Barbara Fegelein, who died in 1975.
Ilse Braun died of cancer in Munich in 1979, at the age of 70 without leaving offspring.
