Leon Richard Kass is a bioethicist American who was born 2 as February as 1939 , is known for leading the effort to stop scientific research on embryonic stem cells and cloningwhile he was the director of the “President ‘s Council on Bioethics” in the period 2002 - 2005 . 1
Kass earned degrees from SB and MD ( 1958 ; 1962 ) at the University of Chicago and in 1967 he earned a PhD in biochemistry from Harvard University . 2 Later between 1972 and 1976 he taught at St. John’s College . 3 He is currently a member of the Presidential Council and is the Addie Clark Harding Professor at the College and the “Committee for Teaching Social Sciences” at the University of Chicago .
Leon Kass’s thinking about the cloning of human beings is that, according to him, he would depersonalize human reproduction, have significant influence on future generations, and eventually lead to the degradation of man. 4
His critics accuse Kass of having completed the Council with anti-abortionists and opponents of embryonic stem cell research, and rejected those people who disagreed with him, such as Elizabeth Blackburn . 5
